Our Counselling Approach

'We carry inside us the wonders we seek outside us.' Rumi

The answers and the wonders are within you somewhere but it is understandable that you might need help to access those answers. There are many reasons why you may be considering counselling. Perhaps you are experiencing depression or anxiety or maybe you simply feel lost. Perhaps you finally realise you need some help due to the scars of trauma or abuse. Perhaps you are struggling to find your authentic self and find that your relationships and work choices ring hollow. Whatever your reasons for looking for a counsellor it is an extremely brave step, but that step can be life changing. Our counselling can help you to:

-       Get out of the rut you may be in and help you live a more meaningful and purposeful life

-       Live more authentically

-       Increase feelings of confidence and self-worth

-       Heal from trauma

-       Come to terms with the past and live in the present

-       Discover and change detrimental negative patterns

Our counselling works because it gives you the opportunity to look at yourself in a way that you haven’t done before. We will treat you as an individual as we believe that everyone is unique and what is right for one person is not right for another so we will tailor our approach accordingly. As such, we will not label or categorise you: we will appreciate you and help you for the person that you are.

Our counselling is a safe place to talk about difficult or confusing feelings and experiences. As counsellors we adhere to the framework of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. This is an assurance that we are committed to providing an ethically sound service which is non-judgemental, confidential and client led. It also means that our counsellors are committed to attend regular supervision sessions and continuing professional development. Our counsellors can use a variety of methods to look at your feelings and processes, helping you to find a way forward. It isn’t about giving advice or telling you what you should do.

We have counsellors with a range of approaches, time slots and locations so please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss who may be a good match for you. We offer short term or long term counselling. Counsellor profiles can be found in the About Us section of the website.

We understand that looking for a counsellor can be daunting and that it is really important you find the right counselling for you. As such we are really happy to answer any questions you might have.
